Lisa Dornbach, Principal Designer and Founder
Lisa is the founder and creative director of Maison Metanoïa, a residential interior design studio based in the Netherlands. Her journey has been shaped by years spent living in Shanghai, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Berlin, and other cultural capitals, where she absorbed diverse perspectives on space, aesthetics, and daily rituals. These experiences continue to inspire her work, blending Eastern sensibility, European craftsmanship, and a global curiosity into interiors that feel both timeless and deeply personal.
Her design philosophy centers on creating homes that go beyond aesthetics, becoming reflections of their inhabitants’ values, memories, and aspirations. She is especially passionate about integrating art and identity-enhancing elements, curating collections of fine art and unique artisanal pieces sourced from across Europe. Some of these finds are woven into client projects, while others are occasionally offered for sale to a wider audience.
Lisa’s style is recognized for its ability to seamlessly layer classic design foundations with eclectic vintage finds, natural textures, and one-of-a-kind artworks. The result is homes that are warm, livable, and profoundly authentic spaces that tell a story and stand the test of time.

We consider an upcoming renovation project or the wish to "freshen up" one's old living room as an invitation. An invitation not just to design a space, but rather to embark on a journey of self. Asking the right questions about your life values, inspirational moments of the past, and future aspirations will all help in turning a space into the kind of home you won't want to leave any more. In fact, the wish to (re-)design your home is often born out of a time of change (and reflection). At Maison Metanoïa, we will adapt the process of finding your style according you your wishes.
